About Jonathan

Jonathan Katz is a lifelong Hamden resident from a family rooted in the Highwood and Spring Glen neighborhoods for three generations. After graduating summa cum laude from Fordham University with degrees in Economics and International Political Economy, he built a successful legal career while staying deeply involved in community service.

 

Now, Jonathan is running for Mayor to bring fiscal responsibility, transparency, innovation, and community-driven leadership back to Hamden. In every aspect of his life, Jonathan approaches his commitments with passion and determination. He values moments spent with his friends, family, and partner, as well as the benefits of leading an active and healthy lifestyle.

Jonathan’s pursuits embody the same energy and enthusiasm he brings to his professional endeavors. His personal and professional experiences have instilled in him a profound sense of community and teamwork, qualities that are invaluable and demonstrate that he is ready to represent Hamden as its next Mayor.

 

Experience & Leadership

​

Education: Fordham University, B.A. Economics & International Political Economy (with a Global Business focus including Accounting), Minor in Philosophy.

​

Professional: U.S. Trademark Prosecution Paralegal at a world-renowned Intellectual Property Law Firm.

​

Leadership: Connecticut State Student Advisory Council on Education (2-Term Appointee); Co-Managing Editor of Fordham Undergraduate Law Review; Judicial Intern, New York State Supreme Court; Legal Clerk at Fordham Office of Legal Counsel.

​

Community Involvement: Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, ACLU, immigration education programs, and local Hamden nonprofits.

 

Campaign Experience: Grassroots volunteer on local and state Republican campaigns.

 

Personal Life

 

Jonathan lives in Hamden with his three cats — Cody, Kasey, and Ritz — and alongside his parents Theresa and Bob. When he’s not working or campaigning, you’ll find him spending time with his friends, and partner, Stephanie, playing hockey, running, snowboarding, or gardening in the community he loves.
